Mandatory Requirement for Safety Training for Registered Fishing Vessel Crews

There is now a mandatory requirement for all registered fishing vessel staff to have had safety training.

NEW FUNDING -WE HAVE FUNDING AVAILABLE FOR TRAINING FOR THOSE WORKING IN COMMERCIAL FISHING

Up to £1500 of Funding per person is available to anyone working on a commercial vessel who has already taken al the mandatory courses. Funding is for refresher courses for the mandatory courses, Skippers ticket courses and any other training which can help improve the Safety of Fishermen at sea.

Venues: Courses are held at a variety of locations around the Eastern Region to coincide with the demand wherever possible. These have included Kings Lynn, Lowestoft, Boston, Brightlingsea, Caister on Sea, Leigh on Sea, Norwich, Orford and Felixstowe.

OTHER COURSES

Short Range Certificate (SRC)

Next courses: 25 April 2016, West Lynn, Norfolk

This replaces the VHF Course previously required and can also be used to update anyone holding a VHF Licence to include the DSC requirement.Courses are held at various locations around the region depending on demand.

PRICE: Currently the fee is £180 (including the RYA Fee), There may be funding available for those people who wish to apply for the Under 16.5m Skippers ticket. To check eligibility Click here

HIAB

Courses can be arranged using your own HIAB for groups of up to 6 people, depending on experience.

Food Hygiene- ONLINE COURSES...NEW

We now have an online learning site with courses specifically for: Crab Processor Food Hygiene and Hygiene for Shrimp Fishermen who cook onboard. Each course costs £20 per person. There is an online test and you cna then print out a certificate. Click on link: ESTA ONLINE LEARNING SITE
